  • Our editorial team spent more than 350 hours developing the Insurify Quality (IQ) Score and scoring insurance companies. The IQ Score objectively analyzes and calculates a score for insurers using more than 15 crucial criteria. The team weighted criteria by importance to the consumer — factors such as customer reviews and affordability influence the score more than availability and third-party ratings.

We rate each company on a 1 to 10 scale based on five categories: financial ratings, customer satisfaction, affordability, customer support and transparency, and availability. Insurify updates ratings once a year or as more recent information becomes available.

    • Third-party financial ratings: Insurify uses data from AM Best, S&P, Moody’s, and more to compare insurance companies’ credit and ability to pay out future claims.
    • Customer satisfaction: To calculate this score, Insurify analyzed more than 28,000 customer reviews across 155 car insurance companies. We also consider third-party ratings from J.D. Power, the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, and Trustpilot.
    • Affordability: Our data scientists analyzed more than 90 million real-time auto insurance rates from our partners across the U.S., as well as available discounts, to calculate an affordability score.
    • Customer support and transparency: This measures coverage options, ease of claims filing, and the insurer's transparency surrounding discounts, coverages, and claims process.
    • Availability and reach: Insurify scores availability and reach by identifying the number of states in which insurers offer coverage and company size by market share.

Hugo was wonderful. We paid for car insurance at a good, low price. It was exactly what we needed to look into. Due to our income, paying for two vehicles for less than $100 is an awesome price. Thank you, Hugo. I recommend others to try it out.

How to get the cheapest car insurance in Atlanta

Many factors affect how much you pay for car insurance, but the insurer you choose is the most important. Many have unadvertised discounts that can help you save money. Others may price their rates low to combat the highly saturated market.

Consider these tips when shopping for the cheapest car insurance in Atlanta:

  • Raise your deductible. Low deductibles have higher premiums because your insurer is paying more money during a claim. Increasing your deductible can lower your rate by assuming more out-of-pocket expenses for a claim.

  • Bundle car insurance with another policy. Many insurers offer discounts when you have multiple policies with them. This could be with policies that include two vehicles or a bundle of auto and homeowners insurance.

  • Comparison shop. Getting new quotes each year can help you find the insurer offering the best rates for the auto coverage you need.

Cheapest liability-only car insurance in Atlanta: Auto-Owners

Each state has its own minimum requirements, so no matter which insurer you choose in Atlanta, its liability-only policy must meet Georgia’s state requirements.

Cheapest car insurance for drivers with a speeding ticket: Auto-Owners

Speed is a significant contributing factor in traffic fatalities, which is one reason why insurers may consider it a costly mistake even if you weren’t involved in a collision.[2] Insurers view speeding as very risky behavior, as it increases the likelihood of an accident, so they’ll likely increase your rates to compensate for this added risk.

Drivers in Atlanta with a speeding ticket pay $316 per month, on average, for liability coverage. The insurers in the table below offer the cheapest quotes to drivers with speeding tickets.

Cheapest car insurance for drivers with an at-fault accident: Auto-Owners

Since 2017, fatal car crashes have increased in Atlanta, while the total number of reported crashes have remained similar.[3] You don’t need to be in a major accident for your car insurance to go up. Auto-Owners offers the cheapest insurance in Atlanta for drivers with an accident on their record. Its monthly liability-only rates start at $105.

Cheapest car insurance for teens: COUNTRY Financial

Teenagers are at a greater risk of accidents and fatal crashes than older drivers. Their inexperience, overconfidence, and distractions can increase their risk, which is why car insurance rates are often highest for this age group.[6]

Atlanta teens pay average monthly rates of $585 for full coverage and $448 for liability-only coverage.

Even with high rates, some teens can get lower premiums by staying on their parents’ plans, driving cars with high safety ratings, getting pay-per-mile insurance, or applying for good student discounts.

Atlanta car insurance quotes by credit tier

Georgia insurers are permitted to use credit scores as one of many factors influencing how they price a premium. However, it’s illegal for insurers to use it as the sole basis for making an underwriting decision.[7] Drivers with poor credit scores typically pay higher rates than drivers with excellent or good credit scores.

Methodology

Insurify data scientists analyzed more than 90 million quotes served to car insurance applicants in Insurify’s proprietary database to calculate the premium averages displayed on this page. These premiums are real quotes that come directly from Insurify’s 50+ partner insurance companies in all 50 states and Washington, D.C. Quote averages represent the median price for a quote across the given coverage level, driver subset, and geographic area.

Unless otherwise specified, quoted rates reflect the average cost for drivers between 20 and 70 years old with a clean driving record and average or better credit (a credit score of 600 or higher).

Liability-only premium averages correspond to policies with the following coverage limits:

  • Bodily injury limits between state-minimum rates and $50,000 per person, $100,000 per accident
  • Property damage limits between $10,000 and $50,000
  • No additional coverage
Full-coverage premium averages correspond to the same bodily injury and property damage limits in addition to:
  • Comprehensive coverage with a $1,000 deductible
  • Collision coverage with a $1,000 deductible

Quotes for Allstate, Farmers, GEICO, State Farm, and USAA are estimates based on Quadrant Information Services’ database of auto insurance rates.
