At Insurify, our goal is to help customers compare insurance products and find the best policy for them. We strive to provide open, honest, and unbiased information about the insurance products and services we review. Our hard-working team of data analysts, insurance experts, insurance agents, editors and writers, has put in thousands of hours of research to create the content found on our site.
We do receive compensation when a sale or referral occurs from many of the insurance providers and marketing partners on our site. That may impact which products we display and where they appear on our site. But it does not influence our meticulously researched editorial content, what we write about, or any reviews or recommendations we may make. We do not guarantee favorable reviews or any coverage at all in exchange for compensation.
Why you can trust Insurify: Comparing accurate insurance quotes should never put you at risk of spam. We earn an agent commission only if you buy a policy based on our quotes. Our editorial team follows a rigorous set of editorial standards and operates independently from our insurance partners. Learn more.

Policygenius is an insurance marketplace that offers a quote-comparison experience, sells different types of insurance policies, and provides unbiased education on car, disability, life, and home insurance. The company earns a commission from insurance companies for each sale made through the site. It’s not a lead-generation site and doesn’t sell your personal information.
Completing the online form for car insurance quotes through Policygenius can result in a combination of estimated quotes and opportunities to go directly to the website of an auto insurer. You can also speak directly to a licensed insurance expert with Policygenius who can talk to you about your specific insurance needs.[1]

Policygenius at a glance
Founded in 2014 as an online life insurance marketplace, Policygenius has since expanded to sell other insurance products.[2] It isn’t an insurance company, and it doesn’t underwrite policies. Rather, Policygenius is an insurance-comparison website that helps people compare policies from top insurance companies to find the best deal.
Because Policygenius is an independent insurance broker that sells coverage from many different insurers, the company makes a commission from each sale.
With Policygenius, you can compare quotes online or contact one of its licensed experts for personalized assistance with your quote whenever you need it. You can use the site to compare estimated quotes and shop for:
Car insurance
Home insurance
Life insurance (including term life, whole life, and no-medical-exam insurance)
Disability insurance (including long-term care insurance)
The site also provides people with a wide range of insurance-related educational content and offers helpful tools, like calculators and guides. Since 2014, the company has sold more than $200 billion in coverage and has helped more than 30 million insurance shoppers.
Pros
Policygenius offers free quotes for auto, disability, home, and life insurance.
Licensed experts are available to answer questions and complete paperwork.
Policygenius won’t sell your information when you apply for a quote.
Cons
You won’t actually receive a real-time car insurance quote, even after completing the online form.
The online quote form takes a while to complete and doesn’t have a progress tracker.
When getting a car insurance quote, your only bundling option is home insurance.
How does Policygenius work?
Policygenius provides estimated quotes for and sells car insurance policies as an independent broker. To get a car insurance quote, users can click on the “Auto” button on its website. When you start the process, you’ll have the opportunity to bundle home insurance along with your car insurance quote. Selecting this, however, added many extra steps to the application process.
The Policygenius quote-comparison tool guided me through a series of simple questions. When I hit continue on some of the pages, I had to fill in additional information, which slowed the process down. The site doesn’t have a progress tracker or a “back” or “forward” button, but I could use my browser’s back button to revisit a previous page if needed.
The detailed information users provide for car insurance quotes (bundled with home insurance) includes:
ZIP code
Homeownership status
Current insurance coverage details
Preferred amount of coverage levels for home and car insurance
After completing the entire process, I learned I had no available options in my area and didn’t receive any real-time quotes. An hour after the application process, my request had expired on my “dashboard.”
A full day after completing the quote process, I have yet to receive any phone calls or emails about my estimate, but I expect that I may soon because many positive customer reviews cite good experiences of working with licensed experts at Policygenius.
Policygenius reviews: What real customers are saying
Policygenius has a rating of 4.7 out of 5 stars on Trustpilot, where users rave about how knowledgeable and helpful Policygenius agents are. Customers also talk about how simple Policygenius made it to review insurance options that fit their budget and personal insurance needs.
The company also has solid reviews on the Better Business Bureau (BBB) website, earning 4.72 out of 5 stars and a B rating. While many customers talk about their great experiences overall, others are pleased that the company wasn’t pushy and didn’t sell their information. At the time of writing, Policygenius isn’t using Shopper Approved to collect reviews.
Policygenius mostly receives positive online reviews, but several customers cited disappointment with their savings not meeting expectations and struggles with contacting company representatives.
Policygenius vs. Insurify
Both Policygenius and Insurify offer tools to help you compare car insurance quotes to earn better rates. However, the two sites have several key differences. For example, Policygenius is an insurance marketplace that facilitates sales of insurance policies and earns a commission on each sale. Insurify is a licensed insurance agency that uses proprietary A.I.-powered technology and 100-plus real-time API integrations with insurers to provide accurate, real-time quotes.
Both companies take security measures to keep your personal data confidential. Neither company will sell your information to a third party. Policygenius and Insurify both have robust quoting tools that ask a comprehensive list of questions beyond basic information. Then, users receive quotes based on the desired amount and type of insurance coverage, as well as available discounts.
With Policygenius, you won’t receive a real-time quote, even after completing a lengthy quote form. However, you can talk with a licensed expert online or over the phone to get a quote and sign up for a plan. Insurify generates real-time quotes with a comparison tool that looks at more than 70 top insurance companies. And you have the option to connect with an agent online.

Is Policygenius safe to use?
On its homepage, Policygenius lets users know before starting a quote that their information is secure. In the company’s privacy policy, Policygenius pledges to protect any personal information that it gathers on the site, mobile app, or with third parties. The company may contact you via email, phone call, or text message, though not incessantly.
Information collected during a phone call with a Policygenius agent is also secure. The company promises not to sell your information and to use “industry standard” technology to keep your data confidential and secure.[3]
